What to visit

From the Montesinho Natural Park with its stunning landscapes, with its dovecotes, communal mills, forges, medieval bridges, churches of various styles, to the Roman remains of the Northeast of Trás-os-Montes, the Castles and the neighbouring territory of Zamora, to the different civil and religious buildings, including examples that are unique on a national level, such as the Domus Municipalis inside the Castle of Bragança and the Monastery of Castro de Avelãs. Braganca

A city with a thousand-year history, with one of the best-preserved castles in Portugal surrounded by a heart-shaped wall protecting a citadel full of monuments, museums and houses to visit.

Montesinho Natural Park

One of the largest Protected Areas in Portugal, it is characterized by a diverse landscape with gentle reliefs and embedded river valleys.

The oak woods, chestnut groves , riparian galleries along rivers and streams, marshes, extensive areas of broom, heather and rockrose bushes give rise to a varied range of colours and a great biodiversity that is home to an immense variety of birdlife, as well as emblematic and endangered species such as the Iberian wolf.

This Natural Park has a rich socio-cultural heritage with ancestral customs and traditions, including the ancient "Festas dos Rapazes".
